About QCVC
What Is Queen City Volunteer Connect?
Queen City Volunteer Connect (QCVC) is a community service platform designed to bridge the gap between Charlotte-area high school students who want to give back and local organizations that need volunteers.
Students sign in with their phone number, browse verified volunteer opportunities posted by employers and nonprofits, register for events, submit their hours, and download official PDF letters documenting their service — all from a single mobile app.
Employers post opportunities and review student submissions. Platform administrators moderate all activity, approve hours, and generate signed verification letters that students can present to schools, colleges, and scholarship programs.
Who It's For
Built for Three Types of Users
Students
Charlotte-area high school students browse volunteer opportunities, register for events, submit hours after completion, and download official PDF verification letters for college applications and scholarship programs.
Employers & Organizations
Local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations post volunteer opportunities, manage registrations, and approve or reject submitted hours after reviewing student activity reports.
Platform Administrators
QCVC administrators moderate employer accounts, review and approve opportunities, finalize hour approvals, generate official letters, and send platform-wide announcements.
How It Works
Simple Steps for Students
Create Your Account
Download the QCVC app and enter your mobile phone number. You will receive a one-time verification code via SMS to confirm your identity and activate your account securely.
Find Volunteer Opportunities
Browse the feed of active volunteer opportunities posted by verified Charlotte-area employers and nonprofits. Filter by date, location, or type to find events that fit your schedule.
Register and Show Up
Tap to register for an opportunity. The employer sees your name on their roster. Attend the event and make an impact in your community.
Submit Your Hours
After the event, log your hours in the app. The employer reviews and approves your submission, and a QCVC administrator generates your official verification letter.
Download Your Letter
Access your official QCVC PDF letter directly in the app. Present it to your school, college admissions office, or scholarship program as verified proof of community service.
SMS Messaging
How QCVC Uses Text Messaging
QCVC uses SMS text messaging for two specific, limited purposes: (1) secure account verification via one-time codes, and (2) invitation messages sent by platform administrators to onboard new employer organizations.
QCVC does not send promotional messages, marketing content, or unsolicited communications of any kind.
One-Time Verification Codes (OTP)
When a user enters their phone number in the QCVC app and taps "Send Code," they receive a single SMS containing a 6-digit code to verify their identity. This code expires after a short window and is used only for authentication.
Administrator Invitation Messages
QCVC administrators may send a one-time SMS invitation to a representative of a new employer organization or to a new platform administrator. These messages are sent only to individuals who have an established relationship with QCVC and contain a secure onboarding link.
